Interning here at Within Your Reach Marketing offers a great opportunity to learn digital marketing strategies, analytics, and how to build websites from the ground up!

Anisha Khanna

Anisha is a rising junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign pursuing a dual degree in Advertising and Psychology. After undergraduate, she plans to attend grad school to further explore the intersections of these fields. Her favorite part about advertising is building campaign strategies and creating projects that positively impact others.

Outside the classroom, Anisha is involved in the Illinois Business Council, American Advertising Federation, and a social sorority. In her free time, she loves to paint, read, and bake.

Tionne Spates Jr

Tionne is an upcoming senior at Millikin University, pursuing a degree in Digital Media Marketing. After his senior year, he plans to achieve his MBA at Millikin as well. Tionne has a desire to work as a Marketing Coordinator/ Specialist once he is finished with his education. He believes the path he has chosen will benefit him greatly within his career!

Tionne is interested in marketing because of the creativity and fast pace as it keeps you on your toes. He is eager to begin the internship and learn as many skills as possible! When Tionne isn't in the classroom he's fishing, gaming, creating clothes for his brand and is also a member of the Men's Basketball Team at Millikin.

Gina Li

Gina is a rising junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Marketing and Information Systems + Data Science. After undergrad, she plans to work at a firm with a focus on marketing. Her favorite aspect of marketing is the opportunity to think creatively and strategically as she explores innovative ideas and diverse channels to engage audiences and drive meaningful impact.

Outside the classroom, Gina is involved in Illinois Business Consulting, Business Council, American Advertising Federation, and is a student designer and sales representative for Campus Ink. Her interests include art, photography, cooking, baking and traveling.

Internship Opportunities

Opportunity

I started an internship program at Within Your Reach Marketing to provide real-life marketing, communication, and website design experiences to students who were looking for the opportunity to grow and build upon their skills.

When I was in undergrad, I struggled to find available opportunities to be able to hone and develop skills, as well as to gain the experience needed that future employers were looking for. I wanted to be able to give students and up-and-coming professionals the ability to have those opportunities I wasn't able to have when I was becoming a professional. I am hoping for my interns to take away not only valuable professional and technical skills, but also insightful life lessons. There is so much to learn when you work in a small business, not just marketing. My interns have an immersive experience of getting to see what I go through as a small business owner with client communication, accounting, paying taxes, coordinating client calls, etc. It takes coordination, balance, organization, and more to be able to be a professional as well.

Application

To become an intern for Within Your Reach Marketing, I ask potential interns to send me an email with their resume, contact information, how they heard about the internship, and some info about themselves + why they are interested. Then, I send a note to the candidate to set up a video call for 30-45 minutes, where we chat more about their responses. Sometimes internships are offered on the call, or may come via email later on. Internships can last anywhere from 2 months to a year. Interns have a choice to stay as long as they would like, and are always welcome back if they need to take a hiatus for one reason or another. Internships are generally unpaid with WYRM, but I do provide opportunities for my interns that are perks throughout the internship.

Signing up for an internship with Within Your Reach Marketing goes hand-in-hand with Marketing and Communication coursework, and is a great pairing when a student or young professional is utilizing both schooling and the internship in one setting.

Interns are required to dedicate 10-15 hours per week on the internship, but are welcome to dedicate more as their time allows if they wish to.
